Alan Zell | CSM

In 1977, Alan Zell founded and was the Principal and Designated Broker for ZELL Commercial Real Estate Services, Inc. until he sold his firm to Capital Asset Management in August 2021. At time of the sale, ZELL Commercial provided third party management and leasing services on approximately 50 retail centers totaling more than 4 million square feet as well as tenant representation for a number of active retail clients.  

As a consultant for Capital Asset Management, Alan plays an integral role within their company overseeing brokerage and working with the property management and accounting staffs, as well as being involved in business development activities. 

During his career, Alan has leased several hundred thousand square feet of space to national, regional and local retailers, served as a consultant for numerous client requirements, and acted as an investment broker for the sale and/or acquisition of over thirty shopping centers for clients. 

Alan earned a B.S. in Finance from the University of Rhode Island and an MBA from Boston University. He has a Certified Shopping Center Manager (CSM designation) from ICSC and has been a speaker at numerous retail conferences and has written articles for many local and national trade publications.

Alan and his wife Carrie have been married for 50 years. Their daughter, Dena Zell, continues to be an active retail real estate broker, originally with ZELL for over 10 years and now at Capital Asset Management.
